Toumaï skull model

Toumaï skull model

UNESCO were looking for a project to be displayed for the delegation of Chad. The project was undertaken by our team from start to finish, everything included from designing the intial idea (a reproduction of the ancient Toumai hominid skull head) to the final result (modeled in patina-glazed plaster & enlarged in bronze).

The plaster model was planned and realised according to the client’s criteria, then accepted by UNESCO. The following step involved casting the custom-built model in bronze and displaying it on a tailor-built made-to-measure Carrara marble plinth. The work centred around the first human skull found in Chad 7 billion years ago, which was then moulded in plaster and the model glazed with patina lacquer to emulate the colour and texture. The moulded skull and marble stand were then set up in the entrance of the UNESCO building in Paris.
