The goal was to construct two trellis pieces for a vertical installation with a forged iron look (created with patina glaze coatings). The weight of genuine forged iron wouldn’t allow this technique to be used.
Therefore, I created a clay model of the trellis and a plaster mould of it as step one of the process. Since two pieces were needed, a silicon mould was created and the resin print of this mould was glazed with a patina coating to give it the forged iron look. The installation into the shop was vastly simplified thanks to the custom-built dimensions of the trellis moulds in comparison to the walls of the building, as well as the overall reduced weight of the completed ensemble.
